College is more than just “after high school”. It is the beginning of new opportunities and choices that you will make in your life’s course. You need to plan everything out and not just skate through it.
You should always eat healthy, even when you are at college. There is truth to the freshman 15. Be aware of what is going in your mouth. Stay away from fast food, junk food and other terrible choices. These foods are quick and easy, but they are very bad for you.
Study as much as possible every day. Studying will help you get more out of your college education. While you may be able to be social still, college needs to be treated like a job. Doing great in your classes will ensure that you make more money and have a better job.
When the time has come for a test, see to it that you have everything that you need. Forgetting things such as a calculator during a big math test could place you at a big disadvantage. Most professors will not lend you equipment; therefore, ensure you have everything before class begins.
Visit your campus gym often, no matter your gender. Not only does exercising help you to stay focused, but the gym is also a great place to meet new people. Ask your acquaintances to go workout with you to help you develop relationships.
You’re not home with someone that will clean or cook for you. Eat healthily, sleep enough, and keep your living area clean. Try to make a schedule that includes classes, study, recreation and caring for yourself properly. Being too stressed or eating unhealthy foods can cause illness.
To steer clear of freshman weight gain, closely monitor your carbohydrate intake. Stay away from food that is processed or filled with sugar. Turn to fresh veggies and fruits in order to keep yourself healthy and energized. Avoid eating too much protein since it could cause health issues.
Go for classes that make you think, rather than easy grade classes. You’ll be a better student for it. Choosing classes you enjoy will help you to feel more vested in your work and will also help you to network in your preferred fields.
Never rest on your laurels from high school. College is a whole different world; whether you were the kid who made all A’s or a super athlete in high school. Chances are you will be among people who don’t know and don’t care what you used to do. Look at college as an opportunity to reinvent yourself or even improve upon your former self.
Participate in an internship while in school. An internship gives you a chance to experience what life can be like after you graduate from college. If you do well, it is possible to end up with a job offer after college. Your school should have a department to help you secure an internship, so do it!
